The Future is Not Ours!

Educate Yourselves

Our elected officials and board members do not run our towns and cities.

Additional Information

We the people of Cape Ann do not want to be regionalised with Boston.  We are independent communities, each with its own unique history and personality, that are strongly independent.  Our reliance in self-governing is derived from many generations of local families cultivating their own independent businesses. Some families have been making Cape Ann their home for several centuries and are proud of their heritage. These families, just like the newer residents, respect the Cape and its briny and colorful personality.  One could argue there is no other place on Earth that could compare.  Her quaint villages, working harbor fronts, beautiful beaches, granite quarries, and charming woods to name a few of her awe-inspiring ways to enjoy our salty life with all that she has to offer.  Many people have left and come back because they realized there is no place like “home” on Cape Ann.  We come from all sides of the political aisle and set our differences aside for the common good of saving our beloved Cape Ann from being destroyed by outside agencies.

Few even realize that the future of Cape Ann has been mapped out by an agency called the MAPC.  The Metropolitan Area Planning Council’s Metrofuture Regional Plan dictates every aspect of our Cape Ann life through their 65 specific goals and 13 implementation strategies to Making a Greater Boston Region.   The MAPC has their hands in everything on Cape Ann from our children’s education, our health, our food source, and our open space to name a few.  Citizens of Cape Ann no longer have the choice in anything that is not a “shared goal” with Boston and the Metro Region.  In fact, Gloucester itself has been designated as a “Regional Urban Center.”  The new proposed zoning changes being put forth will increase Gloucester’s downtown area by thousands of people but yet will not solve the "affordable housing crisis."  This would drastically increase traffic, parking problems and road repair requirements. The proposed zoning changes would allow view-blocking construction throughout the city.  We have been duped to believe that we elected our officials to run our city when in fact they have been cowtowing to Boston’s plan for us.  These officials hire employees to run our city, most of whom were not raised here or even live here.  These employees then work side by side with an MAPC Consultant who tells them how to do their job to keep shared goals aligned with Boston.  We then have numerous Boards and Commissions run by appointed volunteers who work side by side with MAPC Consultants.  These consultants can be paid as much as $90,000 to host 3 meetings.

Why are we being regionalized with Boston?  It’s all part of a larger plan by the United Nations called Agenda 21 Sustainable Development.  YES!  You read that right, Agenda 21, the conspiracy theory only right wingers and nut jobs believed would happen, is actually happening and you can see it everywhere on Cape Ann.  Don’t click off the page yet because you think we are a bunch of right winger nut jobs.  We weren’t kidding when we told you we are citizens from the entire political spectrum.  We all want to stop Agenda 21.  Please take the time to explore Democrats Against Agenda 21 or the conservative viewpoint at the American Policy Center and see for yourself this is a bi-partisan problem.

Citizens are united and working together to expose the real agenda behind the MAPC and the new Chapter 358 imposed by Governor Baker and how this is going to change the face of Cape Ann forever.  Please explore our site and educate yourselves on what is going on.  Check back often as the information comes in, we will get it out to you.  And please email us for more ways you can help with volunteer work and fund raising.  Thank you.  - Cape Ann Against Agenda 21
